Most moonglow buttons were made in the 1960's in West Germany and Czechoslovakia. A moonglow button always has a clear layer of glass on the top of the button with a light gathering interior. Some have additional hand-painting on top, have paste, leafing, gilt or are trimmed around the edges with metal. Most moonglows are self-shanked buttons.
The butterfly insect, shoes, and turtle shaped moonglow buttons are art glass with hand-painting (high temperature fired so it is permanent), made in the Bohemian region of Czechoslovakia. The shank of the butterflies is metal.
