Description
By Kate Rachel Lozier,
May 2024
Ms. Lozier created this fantasy 3d fiber mixed media art quilted wall hanging using a variety of fibers and techniques.
She completely designed this quilted wall hanging by drawing each creature and plants. She selected the batik fabrics and used the applique technique to attach them to the main quilt.
The coral was all hand embroidered. Many corals and star fish were created with Czech glass mini beads, all hand stitched to the quilt.
Ms. Lozier selected vintage and antique mother of pearl buttons and beads to represent me shells, corals, fish, star fish, scallop shells, sponges, sand dollars, crustaceans, and echinoderms. She carefully placed and stitched these to the main quilt.
The entire quilt was quilted using the trapunto quilting technique to create the 3D affect of actually being in the ocean.
Dimensions: 38" long x 33" wide
Please enjoy this unique piece of art. Please do not hang in the direct sun.
